I'm sure you were raised in a way that made religion compulsory. if your brain was wiped clean do you think you would still see islam as the truth?

islam does not stand out as truth for me, it looks wrong... theres something about so many people following orders from so many years ago and having parts of their life dominated by it.

its all very well and goodsaying allah knows all but no new wisdom goes into the books, all that is saying is you can give him information, which you dont need to because he already knows. and he cannot reply.

there are more shades in the spectrum than worship God and deny God.

Ok:

"islam does not stand out as truth for me, it looks wrong... theres something about so many people following orders from so many years ago and having parts of their life dominated by it.
So it looks wrong because it's old?

Allah gave you all the knowledge in the Qur'an. You can choose to take it or leave it.

im kindor going after my other point of being unable to communicate, there is no way for his knowledge to reach us beyond what is written in the quran.

"So it looks wrong because it's old?"

no it looks wrong because of the control it has over people.

Following God's orders is the least way you can thank Him for creating you.

why would it be too late? I often thank people for a meal after i have eaten it, and i thank musicians when they finish performing, why not thank him for my life when its over?

weak religion = good

gives people a moral compass

religion with a list of rules longer than a long thing = bad.

a religion with too much control over your life will stop you from being the best you can or living the way that you want to live, unless of course you want to live a life of following instructions. On the other hand anyone can follow instructions, how does that make you special or give you an identity?

It would be too late because you were given 70-80 years or so to thank Him. The point of your Earthly life it to thank you Creator. Not after you are dead.

that doesnt sound like a good goal for life. worshipping a possibly real entity. i would rather work in an office.

ok hypothetical for you to ponder ahmed.

would you feel the same way about islam if it told you to give half of your earnings to the nearest mosque?

i know that, but it isn't half of your earnings, and it doesnt go to the mosque. so would that change how you feel about it?

1. its illogical to give 1/2 ur earnings away
2. yes Zakah goes to mosques and other places too
=========
and just to answer ur question, yes i would feel the same way about it.

"would you feel the same way about islam if it told you to give half of your earnings to the nearest mosque?"

These hypothetical questions are stupid man. Zakat (charity) is just 2.5% of your annual earnings. And if I was a millionaire...yes I would without Islam even asking me to do so. Wink

The real goal of life is to worship. But you could have other trivial goals as well.

why only if your a millionaire? surely giving money to the mosque will help other people to worship.

hypothetical questions are interesting to me.

what if you were told to spend 8 hours a day praying? would you feel the same?

Islam only gives you to give charity if you are able to, in the first place. Poor Muslims don't give charity Wink

Very interesting question you got there Steve:

During the Al-Isra wal Miraj, when the Prophet went to the Heavens he understood the obligation of the five Obligatory Prayers. At first,
Allah obligated fifty prayers. When Prophet Muhammad encountered Musa,
Musa told him to make supplication (du^a') to his Lord to ease the
obligation of fifty (50) prayers, because his nation could not handle
that. Musa said, "I have experience with the people of Israel , and I
know your nation cannot bear that." So the Prophet asked his Lord to
lessen these prayers for his people. Five prayers were eliminated. Once
again, Musa told the Prophet to ask Allah to lessen the number of
prayers. Allah did. Nine times the Prophet made supplication to Allah
to lessen these prayers--until these prayers were lessened to five
Obligatory Prayers. So Prophet Musa was a great benefit to us. Had we
been obligated to pray fifty prayers a day, this would have been a
difficult matter for us.

Musa(AS)=Moses (AS)

well you claim to know that it is the truth so i take that as an unconditional yes.

if allah knows all how come he didn't know 50 was too many for people, that he had asked people to do 10 times more than the ammount people could live with?
