Why does Islam endorse multiple wife's, and provide examples of how it was useful.

It doesn't endorse it, it just permits it. They aren't telling you "oh you should have multiple wives" but you are allowed to do so, under a very big condition, you are able to treat all of them equally....which is why not many Muslims marry multiple wives.

1-Is this topic really necessary?

2-If Allah is so wonderful and forgiving why does he hate gays, members of other religions and generally anyone who does not conform to his ideals?

There is people who hate others from every religon, not just Islam.
I have a lot of Christian friends who have the same views of gays.

Islam allows a man to have a maximum of 4 wives if you are able to support and take care of them. It isn't obligatory nor is it endorsed, simply allowed and there are many reasons how this can be useful ... for one, women outnumber men (and this trend will only continue to increase as the male chromosome shrinks) so that itself is a self explanatory reason .. also polygamy is an answer to all of the illicit sexual practices found among western cultures .. back in the prophet (saw) time widows and orphans were often looked down upon and did not wed ... in fact most of Muhammad (saw) wives were middle aged widowed women ... many divorced women with kids cannot find husbands and polygyny is the perfect answer to this as well ... marriage in an Islamic context strengthened bonds and relationships between both parties ... the Prophet (saw) married women from the families of his companions and vice versa ... so polygyny can not only be turned to as a solution to various social problems but keeps society itself pure

The hadd punishment for intentional acts of homosexuality for anyone who has reached adulthood and is not impaired mentally or anything like that ranges from beatings to death (depending on the school of jurisprudence), as it is likened to adultery ... but if someone how has committed such acts sincerely repents and abandons this sin, according to some scholars this person should be pardoned ...
