i think the main reason forums dont want advertising is because they dont want people joining up just to talk about their own forum. talking about sals is appearently fine here so i dont know why other forums aren't allowed.

But notice that its always negative talk about Sals......

Sal is a common name though. If I add on the 's, it just implies ownership of something to someone named Sal. If you're talking about the forum, that is just a nickname anyways, and therefore mention of it does not necessarily mean it's talking about the forum given the same, grammatically incorrect, name.

That's like if I said new horizons somewhere else. Just because there's a forum called 'New Horizons' does not mean I was talking about it there, but merely a combination of two commonly used words.

(And I didn't mention the forum you said would earn me a warn, but if you insist on giving me one, go ahead).

Well FYI I know the difference of when talking about a person called Sal, and when you are talking about Sal's the forum.

That would be true except that almost most members here actually know what Sals is-a Runescape forum.

If you probably mention New Horizons on a forum, they either never heard of this forum or would think of the million other sites that have the name New horizons.

So just because no one has heard of it makes it okay to talk about? If everyone already knows what Sal's is, then why is it forbidden to 'advertise' it, when obviously people are well aware of it, and therefore they wouldn't join or anything.

Because it is against the rules to do so. Just because people know about Sal's doesn't make Sals an exception.
