Re: Trig Competition-Ahmed vs. Marwa
- Spoiler:
- The diagram shows part of the equation y=f(x), where f(x)=1+2sin(px+q), p and q being positive constants and q≤90. The curve cuts the y-axis at the point A and the x-axis the points C and D. The point B is a maximum point on the curve.
Given that the coordinates of the point A and C are (0,2) and (45,0) respectively
>> calculate the value of q
>> show that p=4
>> fine the coordinates of B and D

Re: Trig Competition-Ahmed vs. Marwa
1 Question at a time:
f(x)=1+2sin(px+q)
0=1+2sin(p(0)+q)
0=1+2sin(q)
sin(q)=-1/2
q=sin^-1(-1/2)
q=-30 degrees
f(x)=1+2sin(px+q)
0=1+2sin(p(0)+q)
0=1+2sin(q)
sin(q)=-1/2
q=sin^-1(-1/2)
q=-30 degrees

Re: Trig Competition-Ahmed vs. Marwa
Well you can't blame me to be honest. You never specified the range...for example: 0<x<360
You just said "find"...so I won
My turn?

Marwa:0
Let's start out easy:
Is x-1 a factor of x^567-3x^400+x^9+2?

Re: Trig Competition-Ahmed vs. Marwa
the factor theorem,
(x-1) so we'll use x=1
1-3+1+2 =/= 0
so (x-1) is not a factor of the big long thing u wrote up there...

Re: Trig Competition-Ahmed vs. Marwa
Make another topic about it. This topic is just for a competition between Marwa and I to see who's smarter in Trig

Re: Trig Competition-Ahmed vs. Marwa
I don't want to glorify myself to the point where I beat a 2nd year college student. But if you insist, then prepare for a humiliating defeat.

Re: Trig Competition-Ahmed vs. Marwa
Well I wouldn't exactly be losing anything or being embarrassed since I am a "Junior" and you are a 2nd year college student
However, I could only gain. And that is being showing that I am smarter than you. So it's only your loss and my gain
