i think its good to be legal, it doesn't mean people have to do it, just makes at an option.
It is an option thats always been there, i remember hearing about people throwing themselves down stairs or doing terrible things with knitting needles... wouldn't you rather it was as safe as possible? and the choice lies with the parents, not their government.
Well using your logic, when a murder happens, then it should be between the victims family and the murder or his family...they "avenge" themselves like in medieval times.

i suppose your trying to be clever about when life starts, but lets take that seriously for a moment. So sperm and eggs are of course alive and the only way for us to save those lives is for men to be having sex pretty much non-stop... now the ratio of men to women is roughly equal around the world but women will only be able to use one egg a month (and less when pregnant), men will get through an uncountable amount of sperm, there must be some loss of life.
Except a sperm is not alive in the true sense, it does not reproduce (without fertilizing something). It is a sex cell, it has the potential to be life. However, a fertilized egg WILL be a fully grown human being if it is not killed. That's why you can say a fertilized egg is a human life, but a sperm is not.
I believe it should most certainly be legalised in the case of a rape victim, and I doubt any moral outrage would result should the life be terminated before the respiratory system develops.
However, if the feisty pair already planned on getting a baby, it's the responsibility of the mother to hold on to her commitments and leave the rest to fate.
a zygote is basically a child which isn't fully formed yet, it IS ALIVE... unlike sex cells which are cells, they're alive in the same way ur skin and liver cells are.. they don't die, they're DENATURED

alright well my sex all the time point is still valid, because eggs are certainly lost over time.

human life should be cherished, but at times pregnant people aren't ready for a child. They should not be forced into parenthood just because their condom broke or she forgot to take the pill.
most of us will probably be in the situation one day where abortion is an option and i hope its not the only option that makes sense... but right now i feel better knowing that its legal.
I was trying to make a point that the key qualities an embryo at its early stage has is retained in the sperm. Even then it shouldn't determine that it's morally wrong for an early abortion to take place...would you consider ejaculation as murder? However, when the embryo's senses have developed, it undoubtedly becomes murder.
