i believe in it, some men do on some level look for people like their mother... but partly because we are drawn to people who are like ourselves.

According to the Oedipus complex, man wants to marry their mothers and kill their fathers.

    no, not everyone does.

but i will admit i feel more hostility towards my father than mother.
And i look after mother when her back hurts where i normally leave father to get over it

anyway, im just going to carry on talking

he wasn't saying that everyone conciously wants to kill their dads and marry their mums, he was a great one for the sub-conscious, and i think he took it to extreams with that but there does seem to be some accuracy in it.

as i mentioned earlier, im a big fan of his big 3 or as he called them the ich, ein and uberein. the ich is the animal part of us, the survival instincts, the ein (or ego) is our thinking mind and the uberein is our conscience. and the ein is all conscious thought, the ich is all sub-conscious and the unberein is both... Its often described as being like an iceberg.

I think it depends on the fact that your mother is female and your father is mail rather than your subconsience simply thinks that way.

"The Electra complex is the psychoanalytic theory that a female's psychosexual development involves a sexual attachment to her father, and is analogous to a boy's attachment to his mother that forms the basis of the Oedipus complex."

a debate where you want to judge a man on a single piece of his work.

He was great for his time and moved psychology along by leaps... he could have been a cannibal for all it matters, he still did quite a service to the science.
