marwa asked me what my purpose was earlier, i think the most important thing for people to do is something they enjoy doing.

wouldn't the "golden mean" be everywhere along that latitude? the longitude changes depending on where the map was made

If the universe was entirely empty space except for a small mass of matter that created the universe by spontaneously exploding and steadily expanding throughout empty space… What caused that small mass of matter to explode?

i dont know, the mass wouldn't be small though, maybe there are unexpected effects when such great of a pressure and gravity is in one place.
i am no expert on begginings as i told sayf, but i do like not being sure of my answer more than thinking i have the wrong answer

Ok if the Earth was "created from that small mass of matter". Then how was the whole universe created?

i dont think it was a small mass, i think it was every bit of mass in the universe. perhaps the gravity got too great or something. i dont know how it happened.

because it didn't!
God created the universe!
Its impossible that all of this happened just by "concidence" and wow then humans just appeared out of now where to live on this earth that just magically appeared for no reason!

that is how religion tells it, god makes us and the planet for no reason.
no reason makes sense when we have the big bang (thats as far back as theory goes) and evolution.

i fail to see how matter came into existence on its own ... Allah (swt) has already stated that this universe is a cycle and he will re-create it by rolling it up, like scrolls ... in other words the Big Crunch ..

Exactly, the holy books of religions are mostly made up stories just to fascinate people into bowing down to a false idea.

like i said gaz, thats as far back as reasonable theory goes, it could be that we wern't the first big bang, with a bit of a newtons cradle effect going on.
you have the advantage here, religion gives you a neat little answer to these questions and it is impossible for humans to find out. Its just another unprovable part of religion.

This is the way I figure it:
Religion originally was an literally an answer sheet for the unexplainable. Now that we have science, things can be explained more accurately and because of this, religious leaders don't want science to completely replace religion, which is the reason why we have these type of arguments.

yeah, that doesn't fly with me. Why does he need people to worship him in the first place?
why give us the free choice of worshipping him?
why not give us more reward as an incentive for worshipping him.
isn't it a bit vain to create something for the purpose of worshipping you, i could set up lego men to bow down to me, and you would think im odd.

what the hell do you think hell and heaven are about? (no pun intended)
once again, why don't you learn about the religion before trying to argue?

they are not an incentive of this world though. even if it was endorphins released from correct prayer, it would be much more popular.
you failed to answer any of the points i raised sayf, just trust that i know enough to get by.
So why does God need worshippers?

actually it has been proven that participating in religious events or just having faith increases brain activity in pleasure/reward centers in the brain ... and from personal experience i never feel more calm and elated then when im praying to Allah (swt) ... but you are a slave of worldly pleasures ...
God dosen't need worshipers, its the other way around ...
