Need SERIOUS ideas Please

Well I really want to get a Noble Prize in Chem. I'm not even joking at all.

I already have the PERFECT idea. I have posted it before and I'll elaborate again:

CH4(g)+H2O(g)+heat<--->CO(g)+3H2(g)

The world figths wars for natural gas and petroleum. Yet, why would they need to do so if they have massive amounts of energy that shine over them everyday? Where is this energy? The Solar Rays from the sun.

You have probably seen the power of solar rays in your calculator that uses a solar cell.

If humans are able to "trap" this source of energy somehow then humans could use solar rays at their disposal to power cars, houses etc.

On a clear day 1 kJ reaches Earth's 1x1 meter of land ever second! The solar rays that fall on only 0.1% of the US's land is equivalent to all the power that the US currently uses.

So imagine how much power that is!

Do you have any ideas of how can light be trapped?

I was thinking of something involving glass but I want to know what you guys think

Light can't be trapped; it's physically impossible.

Everything is possible. You just need to think hard enough.

Light is made up of particles (gamma)

i have seen a prototype of infra-red panels. they are apparently much more effective than solar panels and will work 24 hours a day...

i was working on an idea to build up and store light but i got concerned that it might be a ray gun and would probably blind me.

i cant untill there is a pattent on it, and that wont be until i can prove it works and see what it does

personally i think the light will eventually melt a hole in whatever it is containing it, and as the material thins it will let more light through.

I don't think you can literally capture light. At least not anywhere in the near future.

1 kJ is not that much actually. It's not enough to melt something.

well in my design the light is constantly increasing because there is more flowing into it, and it would focus on certain areas so i assume something will melt if it works

something black as black absorbs light??

Does anyone think by breaking light into their different waves (spectra) by using a glass prism, it will be easier to trap?

I think it would be even more complex then. Sure the waves are simpler but you have to deal with different kinds of rays now, rather than just one whole ray.

trapping waves is way too complex...
why not use the particle theory of light.. trap photons instead

polarising filters only allow light to pass through only if they are travelling in a certain direction...
get some sort of container (both ends open) place a polarising filer at one end eg:: at 90 degrees...
shine a light through the filter... only light travelling @ 90 degrees will pass through... in the container put a solution of sugar and water (a sugar and water solution changes the direction in which light is travelling)place another polarising filter at the other end of the container (at the same angle.. in this case 90 degrees) no light will shine through..
so technically u've trapped all light that is travelling at 90 degrees in that container..

using mirrors couldn't you efficiently increase the amount of light entering at 90 degrees?

by changing the direction of light

then light will not pass through the filter, no?

But Marwa I am talking about Sunlight...how could you get sunlight to enter at 90 degrees?

u pass un-polarised light through the filter.. polarising it (ie:: making it at 90 degrees)
