VERILY, God does not forgive the ascribing of divinity to aught beside Him, although He forgives any lesser sin unto whomever He wills: for he who ascribes divinity to aught beside God has indeed contrived an awesome sin.

Bro your making a mistake here, the translation is confusing but it wouldn't make sense for Allah to tell us he doesn't forgive shirk and then tell He does to whomsoever he pleases ... but He tells us He will forgive a lesser ( دُونَ) sin to whom ever He pleases to ...

Here is the Arabic:

إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَن يَشَاء وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَى إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا

Enduring: abiding: unceasing; "an abiding belief"; "imperishable truths"

وَعَدَ الله الْمُنَافِقِينَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتِ وَالْكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا هِيَ حَسْبُهُمْ وَلَعَنَهُمُ اللّهُ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ


this is referring to both the hypocrites (munafiqeen لْمُنَافِقِينَ) and the rejecters of Faith (kuffara كُفَّارَ)

"God hath promised the hypocrites, men and women, AND the rejecters of Faith..."

That means both of them will have an unceasing punishment.

Well yeah, ANYTHING can be forgiven obviously IF the person repents. Even shirk can be forgiven if the person repents and believes in Allah.
