Okay, Ahmed. Mountains are formed because of convergent faults. When convection in the magma moves the tectonic plates over them, it creates one divergent fault, where the plates move apart (thus is in between two currents) and two convergent faults, at the outside of each current. In the convergent faults, when to continental plates collide, they form mountains.

they not only forum mountains but also volcanoes from subduction, that occurs when continental crust collides with ociantic crust. also think of the planet as a hard boiled egg, crack the shell and we got plates.

Umm... No. Gravity hood the earth in place. Mountains are only parts of land formed by tectonic plates colliding.

Ahmed mountains do not hold the earth together, in fact it is the exact opposite! the pressure caused from converging continental plates causes the earth to fracture and tear it's self apart.

Mountains don't have roots. Their elevation is nearly the exact same above as underground (and it's in the shape of a mountain). No roots holding the Earth together.

I meant the same amount of land is pushed in the same shape.

if you look properly you'll see that the base of the mountain is below the earth's crust....
it's bigger underneath the crust man... and so hold's the earth's crust in place...

that picture does not show the mantle, which is clearly where the "roots" of the mountain would be if they were lower than the crust.

Also the crust moves, earthquakes alone are enough to prove what your saying is wrong, if the mountain stopped movement (or held the crust in place as your suggesting) then there wouldn't be the movement possible to cause the earthquake.

Unless your suggesting the crust would float off into space, if you are then i have seriously over estimated your intelligence.

Steve i am liking you better and better every day, also Marwa what picture only showed the difference of continental and ociantic crust, the thinner crust is shoved under and melts pushing magma up forming volcanoes. place's like Hawaii and Greenland (checking Greenland atm not sure) are hot spots that form when there is a particularly thin peace of crust with a magma pocket under it

The Earth's crust is being renewed every second. As crust goes down into the magma is melts and when the magma reaches the crust again it becomes solid rock.

This is how the Quran has described mountains. God has said in the Quran:

Have We not made the earth as a bed, and the mountains as pegs?

(Quran, 78:6-7)

Modern earth sciences have proven that mountains have deep roots under the surface of the ground and that these roots can reach several times their elevations above the surface of the ground. So the most suitable word to describe mountains on the basis of this information is the word ‘peg,’ since most of a properly set peg is hidden under the surface of the ground. The history of science tells us that the theory of mountains having deep roots was introduced only in the latter half of the nineteenth century.

Mountains also play an important role in stabilizing the crust of the earth. They hinder the shaking of the earth. God has said in the Quran:

And He has set up on the earth mountains standing firm,
lest it should shake with you; and rivers and roads; that ye may guide yourselves;

(Quran, 16:15)

Likewise, the modern theory of plate tectonics holds that mountains work as stabilizers for the earth. This knowledge about the role of mountains as stabilizers for the earth has just begun to be understood in the framework of plate tectonics since the late 1960’s.

Could anyone during the time of the Prophet Muhammad have known of the true shape of mountains? Could anyone imagine that the solid massive mountain which he sees before him actually extends deep into the earth and has a root, as scientists assert? A large number of books of geology, when discussing mountains, only describe that part which is above the surface of the earth. This is because these books were not written by specialists in geology. However, modern geology has confirmed the truth of the Qur'anic verses.
