Every heard of good 'ld country hospitalit, of course you have!

But when have you ever heard of good old city hospitality??

Never I agree, for the last weeksI have been staying in Sydney. Normally I'm a country rural. Out in the country as you walk past someone you always smile and they always smile back, but up here if you smile at someone they look at you as if your some kind of idiot. The last time I smiled as I walked past someone they said f*** you and stuck their finger up at me! I mean seriously.

And when their in the way you say escuse me (you wouldn't even have to do that in the country) and they just turn their heads to look at you and remain standing in your way. I think we need a "free smile" campain likee the free hug campain (if you haven't seen it check it out on youtube) to teach these Sydney slickers a lesson.!.!.!.

the city is a dark and diferent place, liveing so close to NY city i know. people there live diferent lives, darker lives. look at it in their veiw

i dont think you can see their view is because of how you were rased. try liveing in a city for 3 years and you should learn. it's a veiw from exsperiances

Ahk, well lets put it in view, their all depressed and that gives them a reason to be so in personal in comparison to us.

We are happy chappy, we must be high on something surly, yet we of all people have the biggest reason to be depressed. The drught in Australia is not over, thousands of farmers are having to give up their properties to the bank, these properties have been in the family lines for hundreds of years, all of their work invested into a farm that they have now lost, their kids biggest inheritance lost. Yet everyday when their down at the supermarket battling depression and just trying to figure out how their going to be able to afford the amount of food they need to get them through the day, they stop what their doing they turn around and say "hey hows it going" smile and for that moment they work on making othersfeel good, in one of their biggest times of need they make sure to be nice and make you feel good.

I'm not trying to say we have it worse just that no matter whats going on around us out in the country people are great, they are not self absorbed, ignorant little city folk.

Well Den DEnz, I agree. Most people in the city do seem too much self absorbed to, as you said, even smile back. I have been living in NYC for almost three years, and have met and/or seen some of the most ungrateful people. I guess they are just build like this. However, not everyone is like that, thank goodness.

well i dont live in NYC but i go their a lot and a lot of the people are really rude. like the other day two people almost crashed. they argued at each other and blocked the road off

lol the city is a different place, believe it or not a smile comming from a random person that you don't know and seen before might not be taken positively .... and there are plenty of irritated people out there, usually angry for one reason or another ....

True, but its just that most people, in cities, tend to be rude rather than kind most of the time. However, I cannot judge a person by their first reaction towards a stranger. (Even though, sometimes first reaction makes all the diiference!!).

Moral: Just be kind and polite to others wherever you are.

City=Lots of pressure
Country=Not that much pressure

It is true that city folks are in more pressure. But it is the person's abilty to deal with these things which seperate 'the men from the boys' (please do not take this as a sexist comment).

You have everything availible to you and right at your fingertips! Life in the city is way different just as stressful as country living but the is no way in (cant think of a respectful word to fill in for the obvious) .... that it is more stressful!
