Which Elective do you think is Interesting?

This, and the last semester before graduations are the only times that we are allowed to take electives in the Pharmacy program. Here is the list:

Intro to Alternative Medicine

This course is intended to provide an introduction to the origin, basic principles, indications and philosophy of selected alternative medicine modalities.

Communication Techniques in Pharmacy

This course is designed to provide the student with opportunity of employing promotional techniques as a method of communication between the community pharmacy practitioner and the public. The aspects of pharmaceutical promotion, and copy writing will be discussed as well as the methods employed by the pharmaceutical manufacturer to familiarize medical and pharmaceutical practitioners with the knowledge of pharmaceutical products that are marketed.


Contemporary Legal Issues Affecting the Pharmaceutical Industry

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to contemporary legal issues that affect pharmacy practice and their role as employees, potential employers and consumers in the health care industry. Students will learn about changes in employment law and business law and be introduced to risk management issues, privacy issues and alternative dispute resolution.


Contemporary issues in Hospital Pharmacy

Hospital pharmacy history, theory, techniques and administrative procedures. It acquaints the student with the pharmacy as a hospital department and the pharmacist’s role within the institution and the health care system.


Environment of Pharmaceutical Marketing

This course is designed to provide the student with a thorough overview of marketing in the pharmaceutical industry.


Quality Issues in Managed Care Pharmacy

This course is designed to provide the student with an overview of the issues related to medication use process within the managed care setting.

Leadership Development in Pharmacy Practice

This professional elective course provides leadership, professionalism and political advocacy development for pharmacy students. Students explore how they can become better leaders and advocates of change within the profession. Through the use of interactive lectures, self assessment exercises and group projects, students gain an understanding of leadership theory and advocacy skills that will be applied to current health care and pharmacy practice issues.

Calculations in Pharmacy Practice

This course deals with pharmaceutical calculations involved in product development and formulation of a dosage form.

I think Alternative medicine is the most interesting one from the list. Thoughts anyone?

I wonder if they cover Chinese herbals in alternative medicine...

Chinese Herbals? I thought Herbals were...herbals.

The ones widely used in Chinese culture.

In Egypt it's also widely used. First thing before seeing a doctor is trying herbs.

I'm pretty sure herbal uses differs by geographic area.

So whatever, I'm not going to argue about this.
