Effects of the internet?

Do you think the internet had a good or bad impact on society?

True, but tv also does the same thing.

Well the internet giving everyone a voice is a good thing...you get to speak to the world.

Yes it isn't monitored but, everyoen knows what he/she is doing. And if you are goign to talk about children...the parents are there (supposedly) to monitor them.

the internet also gave birth to emos, and parents can monitor children but its wrong to keep an eye on them for long enouth to stop them from going into the darker areas of the net

So did magazines, books, tv people...you can't really balem it on the internet.

Well then they could set up the parental controls....

at 17 should a kid be blocked from areas of the internet or is he old enouth?

As I said before...everyone knows what's good for him. It's just the kids that should be stopped because they don't know whats good for them and whats not... yet.

I guess by 16 or 17...thats why everyone shoudl know by this age whats good fr them...they are the ones that choose to use the bad side of the internet.

Also Steve some jobs are dependent completely on the internet.
Some people even take college classes over the internet.

yeah but theres a handful of sucsessful websites and the rest just fail in comparison

I think the debate should be...does ineternet have more good to it or bad?

The net has completely changed the way we live .... and it still hasn't reached its full potential ....

But yeah steve's right about all the filth which makes up like 75% of the net and how kids are gettin screwed up by it .....

i think its as bad as it will be really

there will be worse content but people know what theyre doing now, the thing is the internet is mainly english because about 85% of americans use it, but in china its a much lower % i think its less than 30...

So are both of you saying that the internet has more bad than good?

oh it deffinatly has more, porn sites make up about 80% of the existing websites

But, it depends on how many people wisit those sites...I think less people go on them. More use it for useful things.

nope. you should see all the people looking for quick thrills and young girls on yahoo pool, i think 7/10 people go to find porn regularly on the internet
