I am about to stab this question. WHY IS THIS NOT POSSIBLE TO SOLVE???

MnO₄^- + C₂O₄^-2---> CO₃^-2 + MnO₂(s) (basic)

Write the balanced half reactions and overall net ionic equation.

I did this:

3e^- + MnO₄^- + 4H₂O---> MnO₂ +2H₂O +4OH^-

8e^- + C₂O₄^-2 + 6H₂O ---> 2CO₃^-2 +3H₂O + 6OH^-

Why the heck are both of them being reduced???!??!!!?!? What happened to the oxidation half-rxn?

o man i HATED half rxns ... but i think u added the 3e- to the wrong side in the first half rxn ...

They are easy. And I could do them, but this one doesn't work for soem reason.

And no I added them to the right side. If you add all the charges on both sides, they are equal.

Left= -4 | Right= -4

umm u def added one of them to the wrong side

they r supposed to cancel out

I know, that's where my problem is.

If you solve it, you will get the same 2 half-equations that I get.

Notice that the "O"s weren't balanced in the second equation >.<
