well I'm sure there's enough counter culture in areas that you can find somethings you like.

Nothing and nowhere may be ideal but the small things you enjoy are what make the time here worth it.

Plus, I'm curious. Would "Westernized" people be looked as social outcasts?

Basically everything "modern" or against the eastern tradition.

Mostly used against the United States' pop influence on other populations in other countries.

"Westernized" and related terms are always used on NH in a negative connotation, almost as if we're all stupid animals who should never be mingled with.

So does "Westernized" really refer to someone that follows western culture, or is it really just someone with different views than Ahmed, who's brainwashed by all the "propaganda" out there?

Its someone who follows western culture or who is influenced by it

You get that feeling because it clashes with our cultures ... but there are good and bad in all cultures ...

Western culture has become the dominant culture of the world and is seen as the "progressive" or "advancing" way of life ... while we are seen as "backwards"

Our cultures never even really clash...

This isn't the 1200s/1500s/1900s where everyone was xenophobic and intolerant of other cultures. Not in most developed countries, anyway. Cultural barriers are only there if you (or the person you're talking to) want them to be, and most 'mericans are accepting of all people.

Life really isn't what the news makes it look like. The news talks about what's interesting, and what's interesting is often about outliers and the stupid things they do or say.

I've observed this Oklahoma, of all places. It can't be very different in New England.

"Western" is an outdated terminology. The age of westernization lasted from about the 1500's - 1900's but after that point we start seeing more of a global culture forming.
