They have been shattered.

Right when I was really getting a sense of direction, too.

Nonono.

I don't want to work for the DoD, and I certainly don't want to 'view the world through a pair of shades' because of all the top secret BS.

I don't find nearly as much joy in mech than I do in nuclear... nuclear combines knowledge from chemistry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and industrial engineering, so it's a really awesome subject. Mech just seems a bit... dry. And besides, there's tons of other mechanical engineers out there. Electrical engineering is more interesting and in higher demand... but it's still not nearly as awesome as nuclear.

FML!

Petroleum engineers aren't even real engineers, and they're a dime a dozen here at OU. What's petroleum engineering about, anyway (other than getting petroleum)?

no idea

i know its the most lucrative engineering job though

job may be dangerous too so i would advise you to think before you jump in it

I probably wouldn't mine petroleum engineering, but I don't know how stable the oil industry will be in the coming decades. It seems risky.

Same, which is why it's hard to decide for me. Except for environmental engineering. I'm no tree hugger.

And be forced to get used to a different monetary system? Ugh.

And write in the un-bastardized version of the English language? Ugh.

And be made fun of because I'm an American? Ugh.

That's very tempting, though. It'll be finished around 2020-2023, which should give me enough time to git edjuhmuhcated and get some job experience at... Taco Bell or something.

Do Biotech engineering. It's growing at a very fast rate and probably wont die anytime soon.

I've considered biomechatronics a ton. Sadly, work in that field pretty much requires a PhD. So much work.

What's biotech exactly? Is it like biomechatronics (which is bionics)?

Biotech is basically engineering stuff that is used in bio environments like humans, bacteria, animals etc.

I believe that genetic engineering is a subbranch of it. I may be wrong.
