Those people who act like they're your friends, but don't give you a heads up or help you out (when you ask) for an opportunity that might benefit you?

Like this kid in my college, he acts like a friend. He's in a frat (brotherhood crap) so he gets told some info, by upperclassmen, that most people my year wont know. He was asked today by a friend of how he got this research opportunity, and he said "I dont have time" and left.

Hey, there are friends and then there are friends, sometimes you just need to accept that someone who you hangout with wont go out of their way to help you.

I'm not telling him to go out of my way. My friend (who is also his friend) asked him if he could see the paper that his frat friends gave him on the spot in order to apply to a research position and he said no.

Simple: then he's not allowed.

I may seem like a johnson at times, but that's because I believe in what I believe in and I'm proud of myself.

I ignore a lot of people who I place to be under me (social wise). Therefor I am a johnson.

So he is privy to some information because he is in a fraternity, but is not allowed to share it with non-members, sounds about standard. You really need to think about this from his perspective, if he goes blabbing he could get kicked out.

No. I know what you're talking about but this isn't one of them. I believe that he just didn't want to share it because he doesn't want anyone else to possibly apply.
