Well you can't really say without statistics...but I guess you are right (Its logical in the current world that we live in)...

But still will you deny that the internet has:

    Brought families together
    Taught people
    Creates Jobs
Makes life a little light (games, forums)

And ultimately its the strongest weapon...its a form of media
That media could be used to reveal justice and expose crimes.

As useful as it is its just as bad, or even worse .... the thing about the net is that no one can regulate it .... sure some governments can and do censor some content but there are still ways around it ....

Sultan but still...those people that want to go to the mind-destructive sites, are the ones that want to corrupt themselves.

I think that it depends on the consumer. The way internet is used would determine wether or not it is good or bad. The internet itself provides both positive and negative sites. If one chooses to go to the negative, it is his fault.

Actually..yes you could blame that person. He could have easily clicked on the "x" button on the top of the window. I dont think it'll pop up and say "Read Me!"

Well..the internet is a great invention. Information is MUCH more easily accessed. It also has done wonders for gaming, you can play with anyone, wherever they are. You can also talk to people(IM), email and go to message boards like this one.
The problem is the morons making the intenet their lives. The emos whining about their lives...Also, yea the porn. Porn can be accessed WAY too easily. Any child can stumble upon it, and it may be scarring. knowing what crap people are into these days. Parental controls doesn't help too much since children find a way to bypass it or turn it off.

I think internet has a significant role in our lives, atleast mine. But I do not view it as something evil. You just have to make sure that you are not wasting time. I mean Internent is perhaps the second most best way of getting information , after libraries (and even that has became debateable!).

*I merged the two related topics here

The internet has given so much to our society, people from all around the world can talk and learn about different cultures and people, it gives them a huge found of knowledge to go through.

I don't think it's fair to blame the internet for any problems I think it comes down to the people and the way they were rasied, obesity - if it wasn't the internet it'd be the tv, or a video game or even just mass sleeping and eating, obesity is the state of the world, depression grows every year, think back a few hundred years for chicks the biggest struggles was to find a suitor and make her way in the world through him, now days there is so much mre pressure no one sit back and just lets go anymore, we are the most relaxed country in the world and we are famous for it but even in the great south land people are taking life way to hard, if you at all reliogious you'll believe in some ind of afterlife, since when did being a good perosn and having fun in the short life we have get so complicated??

Porn - if it wasn't the internet the foul mouths would find other ways.

Yet some things have more tempations which make the worse than some thing better with less tempation.
Not everything is 50% good and 50% bad.

Deffinitely is a major part of peoples lives these days ... simply because it has everything lol ... and since so many people use it, it'll only result in more and more people to start using it; it becomes a trend ... and we all know about the all of the negativity on the web, but it comes down to indivdual decision ... but the truth is nowadays most people have no choice but to use the internet ...

True, schools push you into using the internet because finding a book and reading it is so time comsumming.

People that first start to use it and young people may not know what there getting themselves into because no one is watching them and the parental controls probably aren't set up strong enough. So its not completelty the person's fault in some senarious.
