Re: death penalty
so you would rather have him get 3 meals a day in prison? while you help pay for it all?
death penalty is warranted here ... just get the job done and over with

Re: death penalty
^ This. Citizens shouldn't have to pay for criminals' meals. That's why I'm pro-death penalty.

Re: death penalty
I am under the impression that death is to kind a fate for this creature and what the US should spend as much money as possible to make his life a living hell.

Re: death penalty
Preid's got it right! Instead of wasting money on giving him a humane death, why not just spend way less and make it fun?

Re: death penalty
but if i had to choose id rather contribute to this maniacs death than to keep him alive in some jail cell where he gets a bed, food, and bathroom facilities
i heard somewhere that they had to move him to some isolated cell because inmates were threatening to take his head as soon as they heard what he did

Re: death penalty
@Fang: I thought the reason westerners were against the death penalty is because it's not "humane"?

Re: death penalty
I'll be honest guys, if I lived in New Zealand, I'd kill someone to get into the prisons. Brb, going to a jail that's better than anything I could afford normally.

Re: death penalty
I recall an urban myth about a man who robed a bank for 1$ and then sat by while the police came to pick him up. Supposedly he needed a medical examination but could not afford to pay for one, so instead he spent a week for jail and had it all covered.

For the millionth time, stop naming people of the west as one body. You of all people should know not to do that.

Another reason why the judicial system is a piece of crap. This does change my mind though, screw the death penalty if it's more expensive, unless prisons get overcrowded.

Re: death penalty
I dislike the death penalty because:
1) It's expensive
2) It's irreversible if someone is wrongly accused
3) It doesn't teach the convict a lesson. It's a very quick death.

Re: death penalty
They don't need to be taught a lesson because they're dead trololol.
People convicted of offenses that don't land them in a maximum security prison should be put to work for no pay IMO. It would help the nation a lot more than sitting around in a prison all day in a gang that will inevitably promote violence once its members are released onto the streets.

Re: death penalty
but if they are working, then they are stealing jobs from needy Americans.
(P.S. Screw welfare, why should I pay for someone who isn't even trying to find a job)

Besides what Ace and Preid said, they don't need to learn a lesson because those who get are worthy of the death sentence, but don't, end up getting alive sentence. What's the point of learning a lesson if you won't come out alive?
Also in the Colorado Massacre it's pretty obvious he IS the terrorist.

Re: death penalty
The death penalty is expensive because of the appeals process, not the actual housing of prisoners.
That being said, prisoners should be sent to hard labor.

Re: death penalty
Convicts should be forced to do the ultra dangerous jobs, like fishing near the arctic circle for crabs (Discovery Channel anyone?) or even as subjects that test brand new drugs, since they have to be tested on somebody one way or another. All that would discourage people from committing serious crimes because they would fear the consequences, unless they're totally insane like Holmes.

I don't want them handling any food products
Everyone would be better off if they were just executed ... or made to fight for their lives for our entertainment
