Your body runs on a circadian rhythm and that rhythm can be controlled by the brightness of lights. You alter them, you can change when you go to sleep and when you don't. Oh, and because of time cues in the world, your circadian rhythm is one day, 24 hours, rather than 25 hours, which is how your body works without time cues.
