i've never really used them but how are they? are they legendary like in M2TW?? i think they are probably the best units in M2TW ... including the cavalry who throw javelins ... you can easily outmaneuver and pwn just about any foe with them ...

meh, horse archers are ok for field battles but I find a sold infantry line with archers in the back is more piratical because you can use that army to siege. I usually don't bother to build them but I may hire a mercenary or two.

try using an army of all horse archers
you'll obliterate just about any kind of army in a field battle
yeah but i agree, in siege battles they aren't as effective ... but if you've got a lot and you're defending in a siege battle, just send them out of the gates and attack the enemy ... they won't be expecting it ... and i always prefer to send infantry in first in a siege attack and then when they're engaged rush in with cavalry ... it could be horse archers or any kind of cavalry in fact ...
