Personally I think we should get out of Europe and most of Western Asia.

How about Central Asia, Pakistan, Australia, Japan and South America?

when I said western Asia i was imply that entire bulge stretching north from Pakistan to Russia, as for Australia, Japan and South America I'm in full support of US presence in these areas. The US military acts as a military for Japan, and quite frankly it's worked so far why stop now! It's also a strategic spot for maintaining navel dominance, A must have to protect US boarders in the event of a real war. Australia is also an important Base for Navel dominance, and seeing as it's essentially an eastern western power having the US forces their is not necessarily a bad thing for the Australians ether. As for South America I think even I child could distinguish the importance of bases on American soil.

I agree with Preid, although bases in Australia aren't really necessary.

What do you mean ace? Bases in Australia, the Philippines and Indonesia gives America complete dominance over the waters between the pacific and the Indian Ocean.

Because Australia has the power to handle warfare against it, and I highly doubt they would ever launch an attack against America, so troops aren't really needed on Australia's mainland. It can't hurt to have bases there, I just think they're a bit unneeded.

Base =/= troops. Many countries have US troops, but not bases. Bases are (permanent) homes for troops.
