didn't the Barbary states get their buts handed to them in the First Barbary War? The only reason the US payed 'Tribute" was to assure the safe return of captured US sailors, the reason the the war. Hell the Barbary states went back on their words like the cowards they are and openly attacked US ships again just ten years later. of coarse in the Second Barbary War they were handily defeated one again and utterly humiliated.
I dare say the Barbary states were nothing but weaklings and cowards who deserved much worse.
