It kind of is. And just so you know, the tafseer that allows only Muslim men to marry outside of their religion is pretty small and at the same time, there is tafseer saying no Muslim is allowed to marry a non-Muslim in the West. So either way, you're wrong.

Actually there's no verse in the Quran that says a woman can't marry a non-muslim man. It's supposedly in the sunnah (prophetic tradition) although I can't find a hadith supporting this view which is odd so this ruling may as well have been derived from qiyas (analogy).

Either way, that thread was pertaining to conflict raging within an inter-religious (is that even a real word) marriage. This ruling has some wisdom regardless of the fact that it's not outlined in the Quran. The clue was in the discussion at hand - marriages breaking apart. When you have a jewish or christian man married to a muslim woman he can take advantage of his strength and compel her to disregard many of her islamic practices or even practise jewish/christian teachings that are against the Islamic faith. It's bad for the muslims considering the preservation of her freedom to practice her faith which is the no.1 concern in Islam. And it's detrimental in general as the marriage becomes oppressive, two-faced and basically screwed.

There's a reason Ace. Children MUST be Muslim. A man in a non-Muslim Man-Muslim women relation can force the woman's children to be non-Muslim. That's not the case for a Muslim man-nonmuslim woman relation.
