the Spanish settlements to the North will be quite difficult to take (I learned this the hard way) because they apparently have superior heavy forces than you so concentrate on making money first and allying yourself with Spain and Portugal (temp of course) and try to take as many African settlements as possible and then when you're strong enough, hit either Spain or Portugal

Plan didn't go as I thought at all.

Milan betrayed me. I captured one of their cities, they captured one of mines (the northern island city) and they offered ceasefire.

Bastard Pope blocked my ports. So I invaded his land. Captured Florence...they recaptured. Captured Rome...new capital. Pope was in the city so he got killed.
