I'm super depressed guys, and i have been for years.

i know i feel depressed and i saw the subject in my psychology text book earlier so i checked out the diagnosis.

"the formal diagnosis of major depressive disorder requires the presence of five of the following symptoms (including depressed mood or loss of interest and pleasure). And must persist for longer than two weeks."

1. sad, depressed mood. (tick)
2. loss of interest and pleasure in usual activities. (tick)
3. difficulties in sleeping. (tick)
4. shift in activity level, becoming either lethargic or agitated. (tick)
5. poor appetite and weight loss, or increased appetite and weight gain. (i don't think so.)
6. loss of energy and great fatigue (don't think so... but from time to time i think i get this.)
7. negative self-concept, feelings of worthlessness and guilt. (tick)
8. difficulty in concentrating (again, sometimes.)
9. recurrent thoughts of death or suicide. (i only remember once where i kept thinking of my own death across a week. So no.)

so that is at least 5.

i know there are a bunch of people here who feel depressed but i always lie about it, this is the first time i have been frank with myself and others.

I think its down to life style, i don't like the idea of taking drugs regularly so anti depressants are out of the question.

because... i feel like it is encoded biologically, its an evolved trait and its being repressed in society.

we all know how to fight and its thrilling... but i always feel like it was denied somehow and it needs to be used, or expressed.

basically im saying i think its gentic.

Sometimes you gotta kill to keep peace.

I like fighting my friends. Very Happy Believe me, it really does help to reduce stress, as long as you're not obliterated.

If you're fighting a good friend, usually it's not that serious.

Steve, you should definitely check in with a doctor. Sure, meds are out of the question, but I firmly believe in psychotherapy.

I think going outside more would help. Vitamin D deficiency causes depression.

Bubbly? To me he kind of fits everything that i would kind of expect a depressed male to be.

Of course, then again i have known him since I was like 10 or 11.

i guess the clues are when i talk about being annoyed by people, it was another good day earlier, felt rather positive... hope this weather keeps up.

i have been taking steps to get more sunlight my life, like when my bus turns up half an hour before my class starts for college i have been going for small walks around the park or the cemetery (but thats a little different.)

Didn't someone post that complimenting others makes you feel better? Try that, too.

Steve

Post Fri Mar 25, 2011 5:58 pm by Steve

i think that was in ahmed's questionable list of 10 facts. I do compliment people...
