    if you want to be a doctor you really need to be committed and it doesn't look like that to me ... u literally need all A's and a 30+ MCAT, plus volunteering and research ... and the MCAT is harder than the PCAT ..

    Well I need to make my decision first in order to be 100% committed. No matter what I pick from these two professions I will be 100% committed.

    LOL, you just worry too far Ahmed. Just study for your BS degree in Bio-chemistry first to see if you can make it there. Then, decide doctor or pharmacist later

    Well it is still the "beginning"...unless you mean children.

    And a dentist/podiatrist is in the medical field.

    @IR: That would be nice. But I got offered a 6-year pharmacy program (That saves 2 years!)

    You know what sucks? Each time I read about one of the two professions I lean towards that profession. -____-

    I guess something that I'm worried about, or is my sub-conscience, is the amount of respect that you get in the job.

    They have a better GPA, MCAT, Research?
    =============================================
    Look at this:

    Pharmacist's do get the respect they deserve...

    It really depends on the CULTURE of the country in question.

    For example, in South East Asia, pharmacist's are the HIGHEST in terms of respect/admiration, followed by school teachers/government officials, then physicians, so forth. The reason is because you don't need a prescription to get your medication, you go to the pharmacist with your issues, they diagnose you, and then you get your med's from them (see any problems here? TONS!)

    In Germany, the title "Dr." is reserved specifically for those individuals who have obtained a PhD, whereas M.D's are referred to as physicians.
    ===========================

    Do you agree:

    Pharmacists can be called "Dr." because many have earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) just like someone who has earned a PhD degree can also be called "Dr". But they are not medical doctors.

    I disagree. From my witness, people tend to only respect the maintream Dr. the most (MD).

    yeah and in Pakistan a "pharmacy" degree is nothing compared to an MBBS (MD), but what does all of this mean if you are going to practice in the US where medical doctor is clearly >> pharmacist in terms of prestige?

    physicians are the original doctors

    im not bashing pharmacists but thats just how it is man, and if I had the time and a second chance I'd probably be a premed and be studying right now instead of posting on here

    That's not my question LOL:

    Agree?

    You know what I see is the problem that isn't giving Pharmacists the respect that they deserve?

    -Pharmacist's low self esteem
    -The Media
    -Pharm school should be more difficult to get into and to pass

    Fix these 3 and you'll have a pharmacist getting as much respect as a Doctor (MD).
    ==================
    @Sayf:!!

    "and if I had the time and a second chance I'd probably be a premed and be studying right now instead of posting on here"

    Tell me more bro. I need your knowledge. You already went though tis. Tell me why you just said this.

    P.S.: The Original doctor is actually the alchemist (pharm). Diagnosis doctors came later.

    Seems to me all you care about is prestige. Personally I find that not important AT ALL.
    BUT.
    Since that's whats important to you be an MD. There's a million different choices you can pick for when you specialize so your bound to find SOMETHING that suits you (even slightly).
    Seems to me you want the prestige of a doctor but don't want to go through all the trouble of being one. So you're trying to rationalize that the easy way out is good enough =p. Lol, put in the work to become an MD. I'm sure it'll pay off (in your mind anyway), since prestige is very important to you.

    Bingo!

    I know that could only happen in dreams though Razz

    Prestige is very important in this society that we live in Smexy. I wish the opposite were true. It's like this Prestige=Respect=More Money=Better/relaxing life.

    I guess you're right. I should start comparing Pharm to a specific Medical specialization. Should make the comparison easier.

    Nah for me as long as I'm happy with myself I'm good. I don't need to make more then 40-50k per year.
    And for you I recommend taking the doctor route. You're not getting much prestige being a pharmacist compared to being a doctor.
