The Nature of Men

I believe that by nature all men are born pure and good. It is, however, traits that they acquire through life experiences that stain their purity. When man is born, he does not know of greed, arrogance, hate, **** etc. Nonetheless, it is inevitable that all men shall learn of all those bad traits. It is the men of wisdom, however, who learn how to control those traits. The majority of men, however, let those traits consume them.

A man, who controls the evil traits that he acquired, would choose what is harmful and not advantageous, if it were for the greater good of man kind. A man, for example, might donate to the poor, even though if donating had no practical advantage to him and could potentially harm him if he is ever in need of the money that he donated in the future.

A man who opposes prosperity, wealth, freedom, peace is stupid. He refuses to make life enjoyable for himself. By nature, however, man is rational. It is his society that engulfs him in a shroud of stupidity, which then hampers his rationality. If a man is shrouded in enough stupidity, then stupidity will make him happier. If he got saved from the evils of stupidity, then rationality will make him happier.

All the bad traits will exist till the human race ceases to exist. That is the eternal truth.

Well for my English hw the question was "What is the nature of man?"

It is opinion based and that's what I wrote. I already submitted it, but what do you think?

I am of complete and total opposition to that statement. Man once, as is noted in the bible, was completely pure but was so easily tempted by the serpent, do you know why? Personally I feel that this story was the show the initial corruption of man kind with such attributes as greed and sadism which we carry due to our somewhat animal like ancestors who lived in conditions that most would be horrified to even think about living in today. Indeed I feel man is corrupt by nature, but threw society one can train themselves to be a better human, such as when people joined together in the great undertaking of agriculture, which created life as we know it.

*I know you may follow a different or altered creation story from the one i posted, But i simply used it as an example for what the writer may have felt about humanity and how it relates to my idea.

Also agriculture isn't good or bad, it had to be done for survival and civilization to rise. Henc it didn't make anyone good.

This is my thinking: Kill or be killed. Civilization was an accident.
