How-To Enjoy Reading Empty How-To Enjoy Reading

Post by Craig Sun Sep 12, 2010 10:36 pm

    Title: How to Enjoy Reading
    Difficulty: Medium
Items needed: A good book, an imagination, a purpose that you're reading.
    Steps:
Step 1; Find a good story or book to read. If it's school work, then you already have a purpose.
Step 2; Find your purpose, if you have a purpose to read, then it will chagne your whole outcome on it. So if it's just for a school assignment then it may seem boring and dumb. Try to create a different reason for your reading.
Step 3; Find out some info about the story/book. If you read some background info on the author or book itself then you may become interested in it.
Step 4; Start reading. What better way to enjoy reading then to read itself... Okay.. Not very, but still...
Step 5; Stop and imagine. Imagine yourself in the main characters place, think about what you would do. As in would you jump off the cliff or dash at the cop? Things like that.
Step 5.5; Now guess what happens. Will the main character do this or that? If your guess is correct then you probably know what the outcome of the story is, but beware, there may be twists. But if your guess is wrong, wouldn't you like to know what else may happen in this story?
Step 6; Start reading some more, but don't finish the book yet.
Step 7; Ask people if they liked the outcome/ending of the story. Don't ask for the ending, but simply ask if they liked it. Maybe if someone you asks likes the same types of things that you like, they might have the same opinion about the ending.
Step 8; Do more research, maybe look for some fan art or stuff, they might inspire you to finish reading, or even spoil a bit for you.
Step 9; Finish reading. Finally we can finish reading this big pile of pages! Hopefully your guesses were correct, and you like the ending! If not you can burn the book and tell the school to glue the pieces of the book back together!
Tips: Try to picture yourself, or become a fan of the book, heck even talk to fanboys/girls and ask why they like it so much.
Warnings: You can get arrested/fined for the ending of the last step...

The problem is that I need to read books assigned by school, so they won't always be good books Sad

I know but picture yourself in that time or place, I'm sure you'll eventully start to like it. But if not, just read it all the way through, or do some internetal research and get a chapter by chapter description.

I'm not really a fan of reading either,
but once I kind of find myself interested in a topic,
I finish reading the chapter, try to remember what was so interesting, and try to picture myself in that way.
