and that's why its better to try to enlighten people rather than joining the mis-educated. We should choose the right choice over the convenient one.

Re: mosque near ground 0
This is an awkward situation... my thinking on this is that it is not based on freedom of religion, more like location. Obviously the builders of the mosque should have known this would happen in the first place. But what makes them more suspicious is that they refuse to display information of where they get their funding and they don't even respond the general public in an announcement. So yeah, awkward.

Re: mosque near ground 0
from what I have heard in the news, they still haven't starting the real fundraising part (you can say that they have been a little pre-occupied). Listen. this Islamic Center will be under the scrutiny of hundreds of thousands of people, and even a single mis-step can prove fatal to the entire project.
As far as the location is concerned, I think the idea is to move forward in peace and unity, not to continue blaming a terrorist and simply wrong act of a few on the entire group.
I am glad that the President of the United States have joined numerous people in the support of the project.

Re: mosque near ground 0
Hassan i hate to break this to you but Obama only jumped on this boat to keep his good immage with the liberals and Muslims. the project would be better if they push the project away from the site, that way we do try and integrate the culture a bit and not spark as much controversy.

Re: mosque near ground 0
Why he declared his support (and then retreated a bit the next day) is a political and pointless debate with no right answer. I think what you are saying is that the emotions related to Ground Zero are blinding people to limit their rational think and go for the bias instead. As I said earlier, it may be more convenient to move away, but I think its far more important to educate people and promote peace and unity.
Let me share something with you which I don't really want to share but I feel like I should: I work in downtown Manhattan. When I have to go for prayers (especially the Friday mid-day congregation) I have to walk about 15-20 minutes north, and about the same time back down. I only get a hour break (lunch) and I don't really want to abuse it, so I find myself running back or being late. Meanwhile,I think I pass more than one church in my way. If I had been a Christian, it sure would have been easier to access my house of worship, but I am a Muslim, and thus I must sacrifice more than half of my break commuting and then compromising prayer. This is a basic issue of whether or not any religious group has a right to build their house of worship in accordance with law. I think in America, they do have that right. I hope I am not wrong on this one.

Re: mosque near ground 0
There's a church near there yes. And also, Ground Zero was named wrong. And Ground Zero isn't holy or sacred, it has nothing to do with religion so I'd like for people to stop acting like it's sacred simply because thousands of people of their nationality died there.

Re: mosque near ground 0
All this is BS. This "Sensitive area" thing is BS. This is simply people that hate agaisnt Islam being agaisnt the building of the masjid. Masjids, anywhere, are being attacked by these same people.

Many of the people that are against the Masjid see it as Holy ground.

Re: mosque near ground 0
I don't support it, but I think that Americans should shut up and just let it happen. Even though to me it is kind of being like "Heh, let's see what we can get away with" like or "Proof" that the attack was only the start or something.

^+1 Ahmed. Terrorists and the mosque and its creators and Islam have no correlation, so to think otherwise flawed and bigoted

Re: mosque near ground 0
Well guess what. There is a Masjid that is 5 blocks away from ground zero. It was built before 9/11.
You know something? As usual you are puppets of the zionists. You don't know this. But they are actually the ones that are leading the war agaisnt the masjid. Many Americans are following them like sheep.

No, well yes... I believe that every religion has it's fair share of people that support terrorism.Ahmed 007 wrote:Nice. So you think Islam supports terrorism like the racist rednecks. Nice...
But I really mean that they saw the people coming complaining about what I said.
I don't suppport many things I don't care about, so pretty much I don't really support religion, that's why I don't care...

People do. Even atheists. This has nothing to do with religion.

Re: mosque near ground 0
It's the people in the religion that make it a common belief.
Anyway, if it isn't even a "holy building" then why does anyone care? Frikin' rednecks look for any reason to start a hub-bub.
---
BTW, if we're going to start a minor arguement then let me warn you, I often repeat what I say in different words, and I also say stuff that support both sides of it.
