I have just finished reading Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the earth and felt it would be proper to write a quick summery of my thoughts on the book as well as give it a rating. I feel it is important that we first kook at the date the book was written, 1864,over 100 years ago so a lot of the information in the book is incorrect (so no, reading this book does not count as studying earth science) Yet at the same time I found it fascinating to see what they thought back then.
In the actually book I just love how the characters develop from the Elder duck hunter Hans to the professor, you have the impression that they are almost real and it takes very little work to imagine them. I also personally felt a bound with Harry, our narrator, because we share similar traits. It is quite exciting when you can actually relate to the character so this is a big plus in my books.
The entire story is filled with anticipation as to what is going to happen next, which I assure you is not easy to guess. Every part of the story sucks the reader’s attention. Although it advances the story quickly, it gives the reader plenty of time to comprehend the situation. Although because of the abrupt ending it lost a point.
in the end I give this book a good recommendation with a 9/10.
p.s. anyone who actually read this wall of blabbering, thank you
