Retainers for life!

After I finished my braces, I got retainers. Now I have been wearing retainers for 1 year and 1 month. Today my Orthodonitcs told me if I want to continue having straigtght teeth, I need to wear the retainers for the rest of my life...2 times a week...

Does anyone else have a similar situation?

Does anyone know what age your teeth stop shifting? I heard its 18...or maybe 21...does anyone know?

Uhm... Sorry about you but, I'm getting them off in less than a year, and this is my first year

sucks for you my mouth is perfect (i just dont take care of it)

no, had retainers for several years. Cycle: Got retainers at like 9, took them off and got braces at 12-13 (now), have to get a retainer back after i get braces off until I'm like 15... then Im done forever (hope)

it would stink if you finally get your retainer off then get into an accident and need braces again.

Grrr....

Well that's what I thought too icehawk till today...you need to wear retainers all your life or your teeth will shift again...it really depends on your teeth...so you can risk it and find out

its either my first or second... besides, the wires and braces keep coming off my teeth

I don't have to wear braces
