I currently have an idea of using xp points. They can be used to transport units or order new ones. and you earn xp by destroying tripods or securing an area. What do you think?

How about you earn points by taking settlements (cities) and killing others?

you mean humans? then that would be friendly fire and will cost you xp instead.

That makes sense...but how will you capture the cities?

Destroying the tripods, take strategic points(gas stations, city hall, etc.) and make defensive positions(creating trenches, bunkers, placing cannons, etc.)

But won't destorying things cost points?

if they take control of the building.

I don't get it

the aliens can take control of a building for an area for an hq or an tripod hiding area(they rarely go out of their tripods and flying machines)
