Well guys, tomorrow, meaning August 14, would mark the start of Pakistan's 62nd year as an independent nation. My beloved country, which came into existance at the eve of the British Empire's last great colony, has seen not only monarchy (from 1947-1956, during which Pakistan was Dominion of Pakistan under the Commonwealth),but also republican rule (We became Islamic Republic in 1956), democracy, civil rule, dictatorship, and military control. The journey which began after years of struggle for a homeland goes on a rocky path.
Yet, sadly, we are not their yet. The dreams of the founders are not fully fulfilled. Both nationally and internationally, Pakistan has suffered from massive threats. We lost our wing in 1971 when East Pakistan became Bangladesh. We still fight with India over Kashmir (not militarily). We suffer internal unrest due to the Talibans and internal conflict.
But hope is there!!!
