My 12 year old sister (Madeline) is seriously getting into World of Warcraft. She downloaded the 10 day free trial, is climbing levels and gaining xp, and is hogging the computer due to it. Help! I don't want her to spend her allowance on it and get sucked in- What if she gets fat and grows a neckbeard? I mean, sure the graphics are mediocre and the gameplay is addicting, but there are pedophiles! When I played, I accidentally let my gender be known, and I got creeps trying to send pictures of their genitals. How do I save her innocent little soul?

uninstall and block the software?
I'm sure there's a way or some other 3rd party program that will block installs, probably a childlock or something.
You also have to consider that everywhere has pedophiles, in fact... In person there's probably a single pedophile around you.

The pedophiles part was more of a joke. I don't care about pedophiles! They're not going to rape her, so it's all good. I care about her playing on the computer she shares with me, and having less time for me!

Unless you have another PC in the house that can play WOW or if you can convince her to muster up some cash for her own PC, then it looks like you're SOL.

You could scar her for life about WoW and show her this southpark episode : http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s10e08-make-love-not-warcraft
Very funny, contains some curse words though!
Or you could try to block it using parental settings.

Oh yes, that was a good episode! The gamer that was hacking could potentially scare her away!El Qahira wrote:You could scar her for life about WoW and show her this southpark episode : http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s10e08-make-love-not-warcraft

Tell her there are far more important things in life than playing WoW all day.
Like playing Battlefield all day.

Battlefield 4 life!Ace wrote:Tell her there are far more important things in life than playing WoW all day.

GTA is also a good substitute if you don't have access to Battlefield, but I think your sister is too young for that.
I may get GTA 4, its expansion packs, and GTA V next year for PS3. I want to get into that series, especially when it beat out COD sale records.

Re: So... My sister is obsessed with WOW
I watch South Park, and her and I watched that episode together! We laughed. Maybe I should introduce her to GTA! I'm sure she'd find it entertaining at least. I'll show her the WoW account hacked video, but I'm sure she'll laugh. I'll save up for my own gaming pc. Or block it in some shady way that she won't understand.

The only way to get away with anything is via parental controls unless you want a 3rd party, but for that type of stuff you'd be in a gray line of secure info and insecure info.
