How do you find the median in a long list of numbers? For example if you were on a test and they gave you 4o numbers and told you to find median...I dont think you would reorder them and cross out till you find the answer.

I need to know how to find the median in a even set.

I mean for Cumulative Fequency Charts.

One way is to multiply the total Feequency by 50% (.5) the other is to add a one to the complete frequency totla and divide by 2. Im confused.

Steve: The internet has the basics for math. And there are contradicting sources.

    Exactly, Ahmed.

All you do is take the total number of times that thing happens (lets say 30)

Now since the number is even you divide it by 2 (you get 15)

Now, since you already have a frequency chart, count to the 15th number. (lets say it is 21)

Now add the 15th number to to 16th number (lets say it is 23)

    You get 44

Divide it by 2= 22 The Median.

If the total number the thing happened was odd, all you have to do is divide it by two (lets say 31/2= 15.5)

The median would be the 16th number as that would be the middle number.
I really hope that this helps.
