    Enrollment Empty Enrollment

Post by Ace Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:28 pm

I need to decide on which classes I want to take next year before the end of the day and I can't decide which math class I should take.

    My choices are:

    Statistics AP
    College Algebra and Trig
Intro to College Algebra and Trig
    Pre-Calc
    Math of Finance
    and Computer Science A AP

Firstly, I just made a 61 on my Algebra II quarterly so I'm ruling out Col Alg/Trig. Math of Finance doesn't earn me any college credits (plus I don't know what the heck that is), so I've ruled that out, and I don't want to do Comp Sci. So I'm asking you guys, what is Statistics like? Colleges like to see AP classes on a transcript so I'm seriously considering that class, but at the same time I think the Intro class would be vital to my success in college because I absolutely suck at math. And then there's Pre-Calc, which I'll need to take sooner or later. I don't know what the flip I should take... somebody gimme advice...

    thx doods

I took Stats last semester. It's equivalent to AP Stats.

It's basically all about memorizing formulas and just understanding the question and choosing the correct formula to use. I did not have fun. I wouldn't recommend.

I would say: College Algebra and Trig

When I was in HS. I took Algebra, then Geometry, then Advanced Algebra/Trig then AP Calculus. I have no complaints today.

I presume you mean the Intro, 'cause I'll fail if I take the legit College Alg/Trig. My dad said I should take Pre-Calc, so I'm still not really sure.

But you guys both basically said to avoid Stats... so that's what I'll do.

    Pre-Calc is fine too.

    It's basically Trig/Advanced Algebra.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precalculus

Pre Calc is jsut trig and advanced algebra together.

Enrollment was due by midnight so I just went with Pre-Calc. But before anything is decided I get called down to the counselor. From there I can change anything I want to.

Pre-Calc sounds like it's gonna suck for me... But then again, I suck at all math so it probably won't make much of a difference.

The surprise is that Pre-Calc almost has nothing to do with Calc. Lol.
