I think dentistry is disgusting. Pharm is the only Health profession that I could feel comfortable doing tbh.

perhaps, but it's probably the most important as well. I strongly believe in the the notion of self sacrifice for others, so being payed a little bit less in order to help thousands of individuals is not that big of a deal.

Well then you can go ahead and do it. Meanwhile, I will be paid the big bucks for doing a job that I enjoy while you decide to sacrifice yourself in a job you'll hate.

radiology is one of the hardest residencies to get into and takes mega long ... its also one of the highest paying heal pro careers ...

    radiology >>>>>>

the problem with pharmacy is that it really is a retail job ... you go to school and pass exams just to sell drugs over a register ...

Sayf I am disappointed with you?

You still have the old backwards view of Pharmacy.

    Some facts:

-Only 60% of Pharmacists are retail pharmacists
-The reason why it's so high is that it was the traditional Pharmacist role.
-The Retail Pharmacy job is constantly evolving. For example, they could now give vaccines. In some countries they could prescribe.

I wasn't forced into choosing Pharmacy. I actually did my research and knew it was perfect for my tastes. Maybe you should do the same.

meh we'll see when i do rotations

and u haven't done ur research until uve worked at a pharmacy ... if u work a wlagreens or cvs or something ull be verifying as a pharmacist and floating sometimes (by floating i mean doing drop off, production etc) and u answer questions

u stand there for 12 hours (yes they do have to work that long sometimes) checking medicine and calling out names of the waiters, answering phones and answering questions ... ull feel more like a store manager than a health professional. Orthodontistry is not nearly as boring as retail pharmacy ... at least you feel like a doctor and what not ... and if u work at CVS or something the robot ( http://www.scriptpro.com/ ) dispenses the top 200 drugs for u ...

1-Yes I did do research. I wouldn't choose Pharmacy, or another job, if I didn't do research. I actually volunteered at a Pharmacy. And I didn't mean physical research...but just knowing your facts. You basically speak like the ignorant person who says that pharmacy is "counting pills".

2-Working for that long is because you work a chain store. Independent stores make their own times.

3-"... answering questions ... ull feel more like a store manager than a health professional"

Umm...wouldn't answering questions make you feel like a Health Professional?

I actually had braces and met with an Orthodontist. All he did was look in my mouth. Talk to me a bit. And that's pretty much it...I hardly saw him otherwise. It was the dentists that worked for him who did all the work. That's boring. And as I said earlier, I think dentistry is disgusting...don't like dealing with people's mouths.

But Sayf, I would strongly recommend you to not go into pharmacy if you don't 100% like it.

    1-It would make you unhappy.
2-Having pharmacists who didn't actually want to be pharmacists (like med drop outs) is very bad and gives the Pharmacy profession bad image.

    1. Where did you volunteer? I've worked at a pharmacy longer than you've volunteered, I think I know more than you about what the pharmacist actually does in chain retail stores. Anyway I already told you my plan of opening my own pharmacy after a while (you better be in on this .. Ima need you lol) ... when I volunteered at an independent pharmacy that was a good experience and much more enjoyable. Working at a retail chain pharmacy sucks hard.

    2. Agreed. But at an independent store, if you own it that is, you work the whole day basically every day from opening to closing.

    3. Meh I messed up there lol ... but yeah answering questions is really the best part of it, at retail chain stores anyway

And no pharmacist at a chain store really likes their job. Trust me. You aren't even counting pills, you're just verifying and calling out waiter names and sometimes bagging the bottles.

1-An independent pharmacy. Well if you do know about pharmacy then you wouldn't say this:

"the problem with pharmacy is that it really is a retail job ... you go to school and pass exams just to sell drugs over a register ..."

I'm not saying I know the JOB more than you. Of course you do. But it seems I know the FACTS regarding pharmacy as a profession more than you do.

    Of course lol...50/50 ok?

2-Not true. You could hire pharmacists to help.

3-Those aren't pharmacists. Those are the Pharm Tech jobs. Look up the difference between a Pharmacist and a Pharm Tech.

    1. Because it really in its true nature, is a retail job bro. MOST pharmacists work in retail, thats just how it is. Its not changing like you think it is.

    2. Nah most places are actually like that as far as I know, but I don't mind as long as I own the place. But yeah, you could.

    3. What are you talking about?? The pharmacist verifies the medicine and answers questions. The tech does drop off, production (counting pills, bottling etc) and pick up.

    1. It's not it's nature, it's just it's traditional role. Pharmacies in other nations have more roles than a Pharmacist in the US> And yes, I said 60% of pharmacists are retail pharmacists.

    2. The pharmacy that I volunteered in actually has 2 pharmacists (never there at the same time) and like 3 or 4 pharm techs.

    3. That seems accurate enough. But look at what you said:

"And no pharmacist at a chain store really likes their job. Trust me. You aren't even counting pills, you're just verifying and calling out waiter names and sometimes bagging the bottles."

That sounds like the role of the Pharm tech that you mentioned.

It's a sort of a big sized pharmacy.

I'm pretty sure Pharmacists don't "bag" anything.
