As expected, there is a surge of negative votes, but I'm ready this time . I have removed the "-", so not you can only give positive votes.

That's not flawed. That's how it works. You give the person that you agree with a "+" (It could also be used to thank somone.

it shouldn't be about who says the most popular thing. This is a forum, people have different opinions but that doesnt make them more or less popular

Many forums have rep systems. I don't see anything wrong with it.

the common thing now it to be able to vote on individual comments, then if the comment goes down to low its hidden from veiw.

That's more of a Yahoo Answers thing than a forum. I was on another forum. It also had a rep system (And not it wasn't a Forumotion forum, ti was the professional M2TW forum). It had a rep system and if you like a comment you give it a "+". Just like here.

no its not just yahoo answers, they probably have the same system on the m2tw, but then again thats a bigger forum, where i was talking about it being flawed when the forum is this big

I'm with Steve on this one. You should get rep for being helpful, not having a popular opinion.

Well you see, the problem with that is that I don't control you guys. While person A might give a rep for helping, person B might give a rep for agreeing. I can't read your intentions.

That has nothing to do with our argument. I'm saying that the overall rep thing is easy to abuse.

I took it down before because people were giving negative reps like crazy. I don't think giving positive reps is ever an abuse really.

It's not an abuse in the same sense, but the rep is going to become a popularity contest.

I still don't see what's wrong with giving someone a thumbs up for agreeing with them. And as a matter of fact, that's how many people use it as on FB or Y!A or w/e.

This seems way too superficial to me to care about a rep system. Hell, I didn't even notice it was back.
