no the Renaissance was sparked by the introduction of new trade routs and knowledge (mostly sparked by greek and roman influence mind you). Also the 'west' did much more with the tech and arts than the Muslim world witch then degraded into a slump.

The Catholic Church isn't a religion. It's a religious organization which happens to be responsible for much of the massacres and stupid decisions in Europe.
