How to be an Honorable Person Empty How to be an Honorable Person

Post by Ahmed Mon Apr 19, 2010 9:59 pm

I know I said I would take a break till Friday but I came upon this while surfing the internet. It has really impacted me, truly and honestly. I will post it here since it may impact someone else:

Step 1: Decide what ethical values are most important to you and make them the absolute center of your life. Never compromise them, even to benefit yourself!

Step 2: Find friends who share at least some of your values and support them always. Be tolerant of differences as long as others treat you with the respect you would treat them.

Step 3: Reject people who violate your trust in any way, even if they claim to be friendly to you at first. Hypocrisy can never be tolerated. If you tolerate it from anyone, then you are a hypocrite too. And do not wait for yourself to be betrayed, but go after anyone who betrays and abuses someone you know well.

Step 4: Never be afraid to stand up for your values, no matter what the cost. The validity of your values will be measured by what you gain from them as well as by your willingness to lose whatever you decide is worth giving up.

Step 5: Never allow personal bias to affect how you judge anyone, friend or foe. Indeed, being willing to admit when an enemy does something right or a friend does something wrong gives you great credibility.

Step 6: When you are proven wrong about anything, just admit it. Honorable people never lie and always base whatever they believe on facts. Look for valid points made by anyone and deal openly with them.

Tips: Being human, you will occasionally fail. Learn to both ask for forgiveness and be forgiving.

Warnings: Once you gain a reputation for being honorable, you will be attacked by those who reject and scorn your values. Expect such attacks; it's part of being honorable to expose and defeat the dishonorable.

this list may help you, but to be a honest person is much more, and a list can not always secure you what you want.

Changing them. I don't care what anyone thinks, but it's more honorable to help at least one person take back control of his/her life than being kind and punctual to everyone.
