Blind devotion to political parties.

Disclaimer. This is mostly for people who live in the U.S since this topic deals with our system of government but of course people from other countries are welcome to share their opinions as well.

Debate. Greetings as a resident of the united states I have noticed a disturbing and potentially dangerous trend come election day. People do not vote for the candidate who is best suited for the job they simply vote for whomever is a represenative of their respective political party. Is it right for people to ignore important issues and base their faith on what is essentially a label?

I live in the U.S and actually i've noticed this too.
I think its mostly because republicans all think the same way and democrats always think the same way, so they associate the party with the candidate.

Agreed but I believe that candidates should be chosen for the actions they have done rather than the actions people think they will do based on a stereotype.

True. what I am concerned about is people electing someone like palin or bush again purely based on their political loyalties.

the 2 main partys are labour (or new labour) Which is very popular amongst the working classes and the conservatives who are very popular amongst the upper classes.

Yeah, thats something to really worry about. I believe this is the only reason Bush won.

i guess im middle class marwa, i come from a working class background but my dad worked his way out of it.

yeah i would support labour, the conservatives have all these crazy ideas about preserving the past and keeping women at home, labour seem to be the ones who want to move in a positive direction but its all bad really, i dont like any partys
