| The ego is a purely mental aspect of the human, which works both in accordance to and distinctly from the ID.
It cannot be the physical body because the ego is simply one's way of viewing themselves in a larger context.

| I took Philosophy this semester so I'm actually quite knowledgable in this area.
So both of you agree with the Cartesian point of view. I also agree, but for the sake of arguing.
I believe that the ego is a byproduct of the body. The ego is connected to tr body via the subconcisious. The body does what it wants according to what is biologically beneficial in it's favor. It then gives the ego these commands via the subconcisous, which when consciously translated looks becomes something sentimental. For example, you don't marry because you love. You marry because your body wants to further it's genes into future generations.
P.S: Freud won't really help support you Flame because I don't remember him talking about he body and ego's connection. He instead declares that he self is split (id, ego, super ego).

| Actually, Freud didn't talk about the body because the ego is not a part of the body. It is a part of the mind. The id, ego, and super ego are all a part of the mind. They are a collection of how we view ourselves and the world around us, an album of thoughts and reasoning that apply to your position in the world, so to speak. With that definition, it says that you will change your actions in accordance to your id and ego, but not that your physical body has any connection with the ego. | |

| That's what I said ^
Freud's views are pointless in this debate. Im not questioning whether the Ego is united or divided. I'm asking about it's relation with the body.

| I feel the body represents all that is natural in humanity, Where as Ego is an unnatural byproduct produced from ability or stature. As such I feel Body and Ego are separate. | |

| Yes it is. Although it's slightly different than the Christian version.
Anyways, don't you believe that the ego will be the one that gets judged on Judgement day?

| Ones ego and ones soul are separate entities. I feel that the Ego is a peace of ones character deprived from accomplishments and status, and although this will have an influence on an individual it is not the only driving force, as such it is possible for someone who is skillful to be humble. your soul on the other hand is the essence of you, and is built by your actions. As such it is ones soul that is judged. | |

| Again, the ego is the soul. You just want to make a split, but that's not this topic's argument. | |

they contain avidin ... which strongly binds to the co enzyme biotin which you need to carboxylase reactions ... so it will cause a decrease in biotin ...

| Ahmed, the soul only exists in religious context. The ego is something definite. | |

| I know. But Philosophy also deals with religion.
Anyways. So we could be clear. Define:
Body: Ego: Soul: | |
