Since I know the very first sentence is false, I don't even need to read the rest of that article. It was probably written by some joe shmo that was fed BS propaganda before he could walk.

| The truth is:
Japan surrendered. USA refused. USA bombed.
That's my argument. I gave a source.

| But they didn't surrender. O_o A violent country that attacked us because we cut off oil supplies when they attacked our ally wanted to "end" a war. Why should we believe them? | |

| Its a fact because its even mentioned in your AMERICAN HISTORY BOOKS
Tokyo was already razed by America ... they had nothing going for them ... why the hell would they want to keep the war going when Germany already fell? Russia was on them too as well as America ... America just wanted to use humans as there testing grounds ... you still have American military bases in Japan ...

| America kept the war with Japan going because the Japanese attacked us and our goal was to prevent that from ever happening again, the Japanese did not accept our terms for surrendered even when warned of the catastrophe that was to befall them | |

| Looking at page 906 of my APUSH book... - Quote :
- It is true that American intelligence sources in the early summer of 1945 reported that some Japanese statesmen were trying to enlist the still-neutral Russians' good offices to negotiate a surrender. But as R. J. C. Butow's fine-grained study of Japan's decision to surrender demonstrates, it was unclear whether those initiatives had the full backing of the Japanese government. Moreover, the Japanese clung to several unacceptable conditions, including protection for their imperial system of government, the right to disarm and repatriate their own troops, no military occupation of the home lands, no international trials of alleged war criminals, and possible retention of some of their conquered territories.

| ^ And Japan did offer a ceasefire, you didn't include that
Japan was done ... their major cities were already rubble from being endlessly bombed ... and saving the lives of 1 M soldiers my derrière ... only 416,837 american soldiers were killed during the whole war and your going to say it saved 1 M soldiers?

| If mainland Japan was invaded, it wouldn't just be the soldiers who would fight. The Japanese in general absolutely refused surrender. | |

GTFO he just brought a quote from his history textbook that said they were in the process of ceasefire and surrender ... wtf did they have left to gain when they were already being bombed to dust??

| It was an American war crime and an ultimatum ... surrender on American terms or else we'll unleash the most devastating weapon upon your civilians ... you think America really has changed since the days they were erasing Native Americans from history?

| They weren't offering surrender, it looks like they tried to pretend the war never happened with their stupid claims. - Fang wrote:

No, the quote from the textbook says that they were still neutral... - Phoenix wrote:
- Fang proved our points.
Actually, the quote says that there is no proof that the Japanese government backed the surrender. It also says that the Japanese had unacceptable terms of surrender.
