In movies, why are they portrayed as creatures who want to eat human flesh? Why would they want to eat?

The way I see it as is Zombination accrues threw a parasite that hijacks the human body and forces it's desire for food to the extreme, all while shunting down the part of your brain responsible for sensible thinking. This is all so that it could spread threw the usually violent attacks via bite wounds and propagate in the new body.
