| I believe after I make this decision then I'm done. SO PLEASE IF YOU CAN, ANYONE, READ THIS AND JUST FOCUS WITH ME A BIT PLEASE: Here's the problem: -New York University is Early Decision -Colombia University is Early Decision -Yale University is Restricted Early Action Early Decision and Early Action are two programs that you could apply to colleges to, if you want to apply early in November instead of January. The advantage of applying early is that your chances of being accepted to the University is much greater then if you were to apply normally in January. Early Decision means that if the college accepts you, you MUST go to that college no matter what. Early action means that you could only apply to that college but you could refuse it. According to http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/national-universities-rankings:Yale is the 3rd best in the USA. Colombia is the 8th best in the USA. New York Uni. is the 32nd best in the USA. Colombia and NYU are near my house so I wouldn't have to worry about the costs of living on the campus. Yale is a bit far away so I will most likely dorm there and pay the dorming price. For applying to NYU, I need to give them either: -SAT score (I took it) -ACT score (I took it) -SAT II scores (3 exams) (I didn't take it) -3 AP exam scores (I took it) So I'm ready for NYU since I'll just give them my SAT score (and the 2 AP exams that I got 4s on, as an extra thing). For Colombia or Yale I would still need to study and take 3 SAT IIs since they are required along with my SAT score. SO here's the question: I cannot apply to Colombia and NYU at the same time since they are both early Decision. I could only apply to one of them. I have a reasonable chance of getting into Colombia but I have an almost guaranteed chance of getting accepted to NYU. So which one should I apply to? Keep in mind that if I apply to Colombia and they refuse me then I wold have to apply to NYU in the normal admission and my chance of acceptance would be lowered (but not impossible). The same thing goes for Yale. So I would like opinions please. I asked my parents for opinions. I have my own opinion (sort of). And I would like to hear more opinions. THANKS | |

| Try going for Yale or Columbia. If you can't get into either try NYU later. You're a catch compared to a bunch of other people who will try applying to it. | |

| Your chances of getting in may decrease a bit but considering that all colleges want to have better students, someone like you would be someone they really want.
Also apply to more colleges, would help.

| Why can't you just apply to every college and choose which one you want to go to if more than one accept? Colleges make everything overcomplicated... | |

| Well I can't. Didn't you read what I wrote. I could only apply to one if I apply to an early decision college. That's why I have this problem. @flame: - Quote :
- ED is to your benefit, as many applicants are unable to collect the necessary information in time and, thus, provides decision makers the time to really consider your application.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080217150017AAIPI0aFrom what I read on many sources such as college confidential, you have a HUGE advantage if you go for ED. You dont have that advantage when applying reguraly.

| @Flame: ED doesn't affect it that much whether you apply or normal. Of course you have an advantage but its not that big. @Ace: Yeah...many things aren't rational | |

| I am not on a team. And tbh I don't want to apply to Ivys just for the sake of them being Ivy. Ivy is just a name (prestige) And yes. My GPA is 3.75+ and its weighted more since my school is special. Im so confused... | |

| Did you read what I wrote at all?? I won't pay a lot for either one... ========================================= NYU has a school of medicine...is that pharmacy or doctors (pediatrician)? - Quote :
- MD/PhD Combined Degree
The NYU Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) offers a rigorous dual MD/PhD training track that merges the fundamentals of scientific inquiry with the insights and experience of clinicians. There are approximately 10 students in each year of the program (average time to complete the program is 8 years). The usual course of study includes the first two years of medical school integrated with summer research rotations, followed by approximately four years of thesis studies, culminating with a PhD degree. After concluding with approximately 18 months of clinical clerkships and electives in the hospitals associated with NYU Langone Medical Center, Tisch Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, and the VA Medical Center, the MD degree is awarded and fellows enter top-tier residency programs around the country. All MSTP students receive an annual stipend to defray living expenses.
