A Knight of the Round Table fires off a vat of
burning pitch from his catapult at 14.3 m/s,
at 37 ◦ above the horizontal.
The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2 .
How long is it in the air?
Answer in units of s.

Allow me to explain this for Frooblets like Ahmed. If you want to know the time it took to go across you use cosine.

Wrong!

You are WRONG NOOB!!!

I then did 2*sin angle*velocity/9.8

And I got it correct NOOB!

LOL, you are wrong. I already looked this question on google before asking. The two noobs also said sin but they ddn't say the x2 part.

You are going to fail Lev...so don't be surprised.

A Knight of the Round Table fires off a vat of
burning pitch from his catapult at 14.3 m/s,
at 37 ◦ above the horizontal.
The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2 .
How long is it in the air?
Answer in units of s.

14.3*cos(37) = whatever, I don't have a calculator. I'll just call it x.
Now you have the vertical velocity at the start.
14.3*sin(37) = something else. that's the horizontal velocity, and it never changes. This will be Y.
First you have to get the time to the peak. Simply divide X by 9.8.
You then have only the time from the peak to the ground left to figure out, but that requires a whole lot. Oh crap, I'm starting to forget this...

You don't use a x2, and I'm sure of that.
